The Entrance

Early 13th century house of the Knights Hospitallers of St.John of Jerusalem now containing the chapel and medieval museum of Coningsby Hospital, some time known as The Red Coat Hospital. The Almshouses to complete the quadrangle and the attached Coachman`s house were built by Sir Thomas Coningsby in 1614 for his twelve ex-servicemen. The almshouses were reduced in number from twelve to six to provide more modern living conditions in 1984.
